Fairbanks August 17, 1982

Dear Family,
Thanks so much for the letters that you wrote me, it sounds as if you are having a great summer!
Summer seems to be leaving here, the trees are turning colors, it has been raining and it has been getting colder.
The Alaska state fair was held here in Fairbanks last week and we (the misionaries) had a booth. Elder Kroneburger and I had a real good time there, we got a couple referrals and had a good time just talking with the people.
One of our contacts took us out fishing last week and we caught about 20 grayling. They are a lot like trout in size and fight but are only caught up here in Alaska. Another big difference is that their back fin is long and not as small as the trout.
Elder Kroneburger and I are getting along real well. Just today we stopped by an investigators house to just talk with them and before we got out of there the spirit kept telling us to challenge he for baptism. We did and she said she wanted to but that she had to talk to her husband first. So we are going back tonight to see what is going to happen.
Thanks again. I love you all, Elder Daren Wilding
