Dear Grandma, Grandpa, Aunts & Uncles,
I just received a letter from Tammy telling me that your names have been changed and that I am going to be "Uncle Daren". When . . . . I'm not sure. I guess she had it figured out a if she didn't put the date that I would have to write to find out. I guess that's one way of getting me to write.
Last Monday, the 4th of July, Elder Cox and I decided that we were going to a rodeo. So we found out that there was going to be one in a place much like the Mini Dome. So we got dressed up in our duds, since it was Monday and we are allowed to do that, and we went to the Rodeo, expecting to see some good riding and roping. But we soon found out that these city boys don't quit do it like down home and the rodeo stock was the worst I have ever seen! In fact when they were team roping one of the steers lay down on them and they didn't get any time. That was what most of the so called cowboys received was a 'no time.' I think that there wasn't any who roped their steer. The same for the calf roping, everyone cheered when someone roped the calf, they didn't know they had to tie them up too! Because no one was, again, roping their calf.
The horses and bulls looked like they should have been in a little kids rodeo! There was one bull that almost mad it all worth it. It looked like a yak with the long hair and long horns and boy did he have a temper! There hasn't been any rider stay on longer than 4 seconds. One of the proffessional riders is going to come up and try his luck on the bull but personally I think he is going to 'bite the dust.'
So now that you know how my preparation day went, maybe you would like to know how my work has been. Well we have been busy and Sat. we had a zone conference and you could really feel the spirit. It was a great meeting!
Sometimes it's really hard just sitting back and not participating. Here I am now just about ready to go home and all i am is sr. comp. not that it's bad being a sr. comp but it would be nice to have the experience of a leadership position. I know that it is important where I am now and that there are people here in 10th ward that need the Gospel. So no matter how you look at it they are both important. Well, take care. Love Daren
