Kotzebue April 4, 1983

Dear Family,
So how was your Easter? Elder Salabiye and I were invited over for dinner at a members home and afterwards we colored eggs. So I didn't miss out on that this year.
We thought since this was Easter we would knock on a few doors and see what the response was. Every house that we approached the people were drunk, I can't believe how much people drink around here. I guess that is why we are here to change that.
The branch had a sharing night or a talent show this past week. Elder Salabiye played the guitar for one of our investigators who sang. I displayed a couple pictures that I have done while on my mission. Everyone was asking me to either give them one or sell it.  I really didn't think they were that good. It was a really enjoyable evening and there is really a lot of talented people in this small branch.
Something else that happened this week that was special is that two gallons of real milk were left on our entry! It has been so long since I have had real milk and it was sure nice to taste it again.
Things have really just about been the same. It seems we are always doing the same things over and over again. We still do our volunteer work at the hospital, playing b-ball with the kids of the neighborhood and teaching Keith Smith every Thursday night. We have had some really good discussions with him but he believes that as long as you are Christian you will be saved. So we went in their this week played him a tape, "7 points of the true church" and gave him the pamphlet, "Which church is right?"  Then told him to pray about what we have told him. Hopefully he will see the truthfulness of it.
It has been nice serving up here in Kotzebue but I sure would like to get in an area that is teaching more than just a few times a week. I figure that I will be transferred this next transfer at the end of the month and it will probably be my last transfer.
Again I hope that everyone had a happy Easter! and take care,
Love, Daren
ps I did write to Bishop Draper and did you get those pictures I sent?
