Anchorage June 15, 1983

Dear Mom and Dad,
I'll bet it was fun up there in Island Park!
Elder Cox and I had a good time with one of the member here.  They invited us to go on a picnic with them.  We went just outside of town to a real nice picnic area by the inlet. The family was the McCanns and they are a really nice family. Bro. McCann said since we were out the that we might as well go out and see portage glacier and it was very enjoyable.
We are going to be having a baptism soon! Kim Russell, a 10 year old girl whose dad is an inactive member and her mom isn't a member. We are teaching her and she wants to be baptized so we are really excited about that.
We just received another referral where it is just about the same situation, the mother is a member though the father isn't, so we are going to start teaching their daughter soon so she can be baptized.
So things are going good. I sure hope everything is o.k.
Love, Daren

Lorin: See that lead dog? That's why I bought this card because he reminds me of you! Mom says that you are working now, where are you working? With the city? Time sure is flying by, next thing you know you will be on your way  . . . maybe they will send you to Alaska! You lucky dog! It's great here.I wouldn't change places with anyone! Love our older and bigger brother Daren

Tom: So how goes it? Life is great!  in this north country. We were just out to this glacier and the country around it is beautiful! We saw eagles, sheep and some other kind of animal called the human, I guess it's hard to get away from them, but not too hard here in Alaska.  Take care, Love, Daren

John: Thanks so much for the postcard, it reminded me of the time we had out camping!  We have a moose that looks almost like this one living right by our house! I am doing great, we re teaching some super people and we are going to be having a baptism soon! You should be getting baptized soon also and I'm sure that you are looking forward to that.  Thanks again, you are great! I love you too, Daren
