Dear Family,
It sounds like Shalene had a really good time the other night on date, except fro the time when the cop pulled her over. I could just see her and her expression, no wonder the cop just laughed, I would have laughed too!
A couple days ago they had a spring b-ball tournament for the city leagues and teams from all over came here to town. So we were going to go over and watch it, when we walked in a guy asked me if I played ball, I told him I did so he asked me to play on their team. It was a Kotzebue team so I was representing the town and all of the people on the team were Eskimo except for me! It was really good P.R. work but we got whopped twice in a row so we were out in a hurry.
Sunday they changed times again and guess who never hear of the change? We slept right through priesthood meeting, and made it in tine for Sunday School! The people in the branch sure did rag me but it wasn't my fault I didn't know. I don't listen to the radio and no one told me.
One of Freeda Larsen's friends lives up here in Kotzebue so we went over to see her. She was out in front of her house with her parka, an ulu in her hand, fish all around her and blood scattered all over. Boy did she look like an Eskimo! We talked with her for over an hour while she worked cutting the fish. It was really slick how she would cut the fish, it was like filleting them and she would do a fish in about 10 seconds. These weren't little fish either, they were shee fish like what I caught. I sure wish I had my camera but it was enjoyable to just sit and watch her. She shared with us, some experiences she had and I think pretty soon we might be able to teach her.
With this time change it isn't getting dark until 10:00 pm now and getting eight at 3:00 a.m.
So we have had a big change since I have been here. They say in the summer the sun doesn't even set. I sure hope I am gone before then.
I love you all and thanks for what you do for me!
Love, Daren
